Imagine me teaching this!
Today I'm sharing with my co-worker the ins and outs of blogging. You would think I was a pro!

This was great!
I was given a reference question that required me locating the source for archived newspaper articles from a defunct Baltimore newspaper. An online Google search took me to the Enoch Pratt Free Library of which I am familiar from working and living in Baltimore earlier in my career.
Their site informed me they did have on microfilm the newspaper I needed during the time frame needed. From there I was guided to participate in a live chat with a reference librarian. They got back to me immediately and gave me the phone number to call the proper reference librarian in Baltimore.
From that phone call I now have them working on locating the aricle for me and it will be mailed to the SRML library when it is located. Today technology is my wonderful friend. It has moved beyond the acquaintance stage of relationships.

Wiki Planning
Cathy, Gale & I are planning the next quarter of movie viewings for the PHML community via Wiki. What an experience! So far we spend more time running back and forth to each other asking all sorts of questions about how to work within Wiki. Right now we long for the format of meeting face to face to discuss our plans. The next quarter may come and go before we get it all planned out on Wiki.
Wish us luck!

Bobby McFerrin hacks your brain with music Video on TED.com
As part of my 23 Things assignment I viewed a number of video's on Ted.com. Being a musician I was immediately taken with this simple demonstration of teaching the pentatonic scale. What a brilliant way to teach music!

The Nook
I viewed and read pages of a book on the Library Nook. Because there were so few titles available that I was interested in I quickly chose a book that I had thought I might like to try. Once I started the first chapter I realized I had recently listened to the book on CD. Obviously the title and storyline were not that impressionable.
The best part of working with the Nook was following the process of downloading and uploading the actual book. I learned the most by exploring all the features of the Nook through the guided tour. I can see where it has it's place in many people's busy lifestyle.
It was interesting when Jordon and I were at the Altavista Business Expo last week. While sharing the Library's technology features from our website we had several remarks made against using an e-reader. Those commenting still prefer holding a book in hand. The comments weren't limited to a particular demographic.
I've used the Nook. Yeah! Coralee

I'm impressed
I've checked out Beth and Jeannie's blogs. I'm impressed with their creativity and going beyond the very basics such as I do. It seems as if both of them are really enjoying this exercise. At this point blogging is just an exercise to get done. Perhaps blogging will truly become a friendly exercise for me.

It's Been Awhile
No, I haven't fallen off the face of the earth, but only close to the edge. It's time to continue with these 23 technology projects as time is rapidly moving forward. You should hear from me soon.

Getting up to speed with technology
Today Hunter Hanna assisted me in understanding and using Blogs and Facebook. I may become a little more adept at using these social media tools and catch up with the 21st century. I just need to check a little more frequently to get up to speed.

Tuck's Times
My first experiences with blogging:
The first thing I did when working on this assignment about 3 weeks ago was to click on a blog that downloaded a virus to my office computer. The message: Blogger be aware!
Obviously I had never established a blog account or read another persons blog. I read where one of the benefits may be to know a colleague better. I think I would learn more about another person working by her side for a couple of hours just as well. As you can tell I'm more a people person than a "screen" person. Who knows? I may change my tune.
